The season is upon us, not just Christmas but the Andy Kim Christmas Show 2011. Now in it’s 7th year, this show has become a tradition in Toronto, and the man behind it all is none other than Andy Kim.

Andy Kim found fame in New York City at just 16 years old when he wrote “How'd We Ever Get This Way?” the first of nine Billboard Top 40 hits, including #1 songs “Rock Me Gently” and “Sugar, Sugar”, names as one of Billboard's ‘Greatest Songs of All Time.’ A true Canadian son, Andy has been awarded the country's top industry honor twice; the JUNO Award for outstanding achievements in the record industry, as well as the "Indie Award" for Favorite Solo Artist in 2005.

Over his epic career, Andy has sold over 30 million records, with songs covered by music history's greats, including Wilson Pickett, Tom Jones, Michelle Wright, Ike & Tina Turner, and Bob Marley and has even been said to influence 80’s metal band Def Leppard. He has recently performed and co-wrote songs with Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies and Ron Sexsmith.

Recently and at the supportive urging of friends and fans including American rock and pop legends and today's hottest indie artists, Kim released 'HAPPEN AGAIN', an album of 10 brand new songs, each true to his passionate belief that "those who chase their dreams succeed only through sheer determination and a steadfast belief in the power of the individual to influence a multitude by speaking from the heart." Throughout his career, Andy Kim has always maintained an unwavering and unconditional love for his music, believing that "art is more important than the artist." His new music possesses the timeless, transcendent and transforming qualities of his songs before, while giving us a very personal look into the artist's take on love and change.

A native of Montreal, Quebec, now maintaining homes both in Los Angeles California and Toronto, Ontario, Andy Kim talks of his childhood memories of Christmas. “Even after all these years I am still a kid at Christmas. It all comes back to me, all the memories in Montreal of my family, the lights, downtown, and the Christmas spirit.  But there has always been a melancholy to Christmas for me as well, and so seven years ago I hosted my first ever Christmas Show and it was an amazing experience at this time of year. The Andy Kim Christmas Show has become so important to me as a way to give back, not just professionally but personally.

“ALL the proceeds from this event are donated directly to an organization and every year we pick one that involves children and family.  We are happy to announce that the proceeds this year will go to Julliette¹s Place (Homeward Family Shelter) where they are dedicated to providing a safe refuge and comprehensive range of services to abused women and their children.”

This year’s line-up reads like a Juno Nominee list with the likes of Alex Lifeson, Sam Roberts, Ron Sexsmith, Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning (BSS), Sarah Harmer, Lights, Members of Fingers 11, funny man Sean Cullen, Buck 65, Honeymoon Suite and with more surprise friends yet to be announced. Ron Sexsmith had this to say about the Andy Kim Christmas “I look forward to this every year, even more than Christmas itself.”  A sure sign of Christmas in the musical community Kevin Drew says “It has now become a show for me that I dare not miss. I am honoured to join Andy Kim for my fourth year in a row.”

Andy Kim says “I am humbled that Canadian artists every year have come together to donate their time and talent to make sure that we continue this tradition of making someone else’s Christmas just a little bit better”.
