Ontario’s Billy J White has a lot to be excited about. With the steady growth of his profile and performances in the country music scene, White was nominated for 2013’s Male Artist of the Year by the Country Music Association of Ontario, has a string of festival and fair dates this coming summer, including Manitoulin Country Fest, Country In the Woods and Lucknow Fall Fair, has recently performed the Milton Street Festival and took the songwriters circle stage at NSAI’s annual Tin Pan North with multi award winning songwriter, Tim Taylor. Billy J White has captured attention and fans, garnering him the spot of Grand Marshall at Burlington’s Sound of Music Festival Parade on Saturday, June 15th.

“Last year Billy J White was one of our headline acts for the Burlington Sound of Music Festival opening for The Stellas and Deric Ruttan,” said Scott Johnson, Parade Director. “With his recent CMAO nomination and ever increasing popularity, we thought Billy would be a wonderful Grand Marshal for this year’s parade.”

With marching bands from across Canada and the United States, the Festival's official mascot Treble Clef, joins whimsical floats and performers. Beginning at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 15th, and televised on the date, Billy J White will be driven the entire parade route in a convertible. The parade begins at Central Park; travels along New Street and James Street to City Hall; then turns south on Brant Street, west on Lakeshore, ending at Maple Avenue.

The Sound of Music Festival is Canada’s Largest Free Music Festival featuring all types of music - Jazz, Rock, Folk, Pop, Blues, Latin, Big Band, Celtic, Country and Children's Entertainment. Spread out over 10 performance areas throughout Burlington's Downtown and Waterfront, it’s free to attend Father’s Day Weekend, June 13th to 16th.
