Beautiful Parry Sound, Ontario is perhaps best known to Canadians as the birthplace of hockey legend and Canadian ambassador, Bobby Orr. But after this year,it will be on the map for another great reason. On July 26th, 27th and 28th, at the Foley Fairgrounds, a country music festival like no other will be cementing it’s place in local history. The first annual Country in the Woods Festival will take place over those three days featuring a 100% Canadian lineup. And lo and behold, Canada there IS enough amazing talent in this country to fill an entertainment bill without having any cross border acts. The three headliners for the three days are Jason McCoy, Doc Walker and Gil Grand, all seasoned acts with strings of hits in their catalogues.  The rest of the talent is emerging, up and coming talent that will fill the summer air with rockin’ country sounds for three days.

Foley Fairgrounds is located about 8 miles south of the town of Parry Sound in Seguin Township and is about 100 miles north of the city of Toronto, just a quick, easy drive up the 400 highway.  There is camping available on site and additional camping about 5 minutes away, and hotels are not far away if camping isn’t your style.  Foley Fairgrounds is a beautiful site and with its cleared and wooded areas will give the visitors a true taste of the picturesque Ontario countryside.

Besides the three main acts, some of the future stars of country music will be hitting the boards over the weekend. On Friday, supporting headliner Jason McCoy you will see  acts like Tim Hicks, Tonya Kennedy, Larry Berrio, Chelsea Crites and Celine Tellier. On Saturday, along with Doc Walker see the explosive Marshall Dane and Kerosene Creek, Stacey Zeigers,The Reklaws, Shelley Rastin, Rory Gardiner and Carly-Jo.  And wrapping up on Sunday with Gil Grand are rising star Billy J White, Ty Baynton, The Haybirds, Steve Mathews and Celine Cascanette. We reached some of the talent and gathered some feedback on how they feel about playing at this event.

Jason McCoy had this to say, “I'm very proud to be a country singer, but even more proud to be a Canadian country singer; per captia, our artists have been more successful around the world than any other nation, and we are proud to be part of the great ALL CANADIAN talent in Parry Sound. Little known fact, I lived on James Bay Junction road as a young fella...maybe that's where I got my good country roots!”

Emerging country star Marshall Dane said…“Country In The Woods.. eh? pack of wieners for firepit $2, flip flops from corner store $2, water noodle from dollar store $2, All Canadian Kickin' Country Bands for 3 days straight?????  PRICELESS!!”

Up and coming artist Billy J White had this to say, "I'm really excited to be part of Country in the Woods especially for  being there to perform for the first year. Can't wait to see all the friends and fans out there, it’s going to be a party!! Yeehaww!!!”

The super talented Tonya Kennedy said “"I am thrilled to be a part of the inaugural Country In The Woods Music Festival. I can't say enough about how respectful and accommodating the event organizers have been with me. I'm honoured to be one of the headlining acts!"

All in all this will be a monumental step in establishing an “all Canadian” concert event and we look forward to many more years of Country in The Woods! The True North strong and free.
