On Tuesday October 20th a great Canadian celebration will be presented at the famous Berkeley Church in downtown Toronto. Canadian musicians and dancers from different genres will share the stage at the inaugural presentation of This Land Is Our Land all to benefit McDermott House Canada. McDermott House Canada, MHC, is a foundation started by beloved Canadian tenor John McDermott.

McDermott is known as much for his charitable acts as his career in music and is passionate about giving back to the people who give so much of themselves to make our world a better place.“McDermott House Canadais a registered charity dedicated to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre - serving those who serve. Our partnership with Sunnybrook continues to be a rewarding one, as we work together to accomplish the transformation of the Palliative Care Unit in K1E Veterans Centre. Our mission is to promote the highest quality of life for Veterans, Military, First Responders and community patients facing the final stage of a terminal illness. We continue to work diligently to raise the money required to accomplish our mission. Celtic SunCeltic SunYour continued help and support is greatly appreciated.” says John McDermott.

Don GrahamDon GrahamThe show is a celebration of the diversity that makes up the mosaic of Canadian music. When you combine Metis/French Canadians, The Metis Fiddler Trio, Scottish musicians - Caledon County and Piper Rory Sinclair, Highland and Ottawa Step Dancers, Bold Step Dancers, country music, Don Graham and a special showcase of an up and coming artist, the talented Jenna Glatt, you get the flavour of ‘This Land is Our Land’. Adding to the talent is newly formed Celtic Sun.

Jenna GlattJenna GlattThe date of the event is a perfect time to have a celebration of this great country, the day after the federal election. Whoever wins, your party or the opposite party, the fact the we are free to have a democratic election is due in no small measure to the very troops that McDermott House Canada supports. Our armed forces in the past and today have to keep us free, some paying the ultimate price and all rising above the line to protect our democratic rights.

There will be special guests including Canadian Rock ‘n ‘ Roll icon Bobby Curtola, John McDermott himself and a couple of surprise celebrities.

Caledon CountyCaledon CountyThis evening of music, dancing, laughing and pride in our country will be an evening to be remembered and the generosity of the community will allow McDermott House Canada to continue to do the great work they do.

Metis Fiddle TrioMetis Fiddle TrioIf you’re in the Toronto area on October 20th wouldn’t an evening at the historic Berkeley Church with an all Canadian cast of entertainers be a wonderful to say to the world  This Land Is Our Land?”
