"49 Minutes...Of The Best We Have!" marks the 6th release for the Johnny Max Band, a 2X JUNO Award & multiple Maple Blues Award nominee.

Well known as Johnny Max, the host of Sunday Morning Soul, playing the best in brand new Blues and Roots,  he holds the seat of a syndicated radio show that prides itself in playing ‘Where Good Music Lives’. (

"49 Minutes...Of The Best We Have!" has an offering of 12 great tracks, all taken from the Johnny Max Band's most recent 3 releases, with the lions share, six in total, being chosen from their 2010 "It's A Long Road" album, which was a strong release on its own.

All well-crafted and well-produced it is no wonder Johnny Max has garnered attention in the international markets.

Reminiscent of Mac Rebennack piano, Max has a style all his own on “Daddy’s Little Girl”; with plenty of bottom and vocal growls, great guitar licks and solid backbeat percussions, a solid glimpse of what is left to come on this CD.

“(You’re A) Lesson I’ve Learned” is a great blues swing track, catch the live version at the Beaches Jazz Festival to see The Johnny Max Band give it a go.

“It’s a Long Road” has a haunting delivery with a very 70’s production feel, this track really shows off Johnny’s vocals.

“Down in History” is a really funny take on being dumped. Gotta hear the lyrics to get it.

“Too Many Fish" has that swampy, southern feel, with horns and wailing guitar that take it out to the end.

"I'm In Trouble" shows off the cheeky vocal performance that is so typical of Johnny Max, with a shuffle blues production.

We reached Johnny Max for his insight into how the tracks were chosen for this compilation offering, “For this album we picked our fan favourite songs from the last three albums, the last two which were nominated for a Juno, the last three albums have the distinction of being recorded with three different bands with the Ride and Roll album being the band that we had started with and we feel that it shows off our directions of musicality.

The only thing that outshines the recordings on this CD is the live performance that Johnny Max gives his audience.

If you are blues and southern music fan, this is the CD to complete your collection. And if you don’t know the blues get this CD anyway, it will give you a lesson in what a good blues band sounds like.

"49 Minutes...Of The Best We Have!" is the one to keep on repeat.
