So, Winnipeg based Begonia (aka Alexa Dirks) reveals the charmingly haunting video for “The Light”. Directed by Emma Higgins, Dirks says “she felt the emotion and saw my vision for the song right away.” The visual of Begonia singing in a store window surrounded by little dolls wearing white frilly dresses is one that Dirks says “encompassed the pure, ultra-feminine ideals that women are told to take on from a very young age, juxtaposed with me, a woman that does not fit into those stereotypes, sticking out and singing amongst them.” Dirks and Higgins then took that idea a step further, making, sez Begonia “the ‘creepy mother of the dolls’ going out for a night on the town with my pure, frilly, little, babies in tow.”

Today, Brooklyn indie-pop group, St. Lucia, has released their third album, Hyperion, via Columbia Records. The 11-track LP features previously released tracks, A Brighter Love, Paradise Is Waiting, and lead single, Walking Away. See full tracklisting below. Produced by Rob Kirwan (U2, Depeche Mode) and mixed by Dave Sardy (LCD Soundsystem, Oasis), Hyperion is available HERE.

I just feel like so much of the music that’s ‘big’ these days is made in a very cynical way,” says frontman Jean-Philip Grobler, “I wanted to try and make something that aims high in every possible aspect of the music: it’s personal, it’s big, it’s ambitious, it’s very much ‘me’ and ‘us’, but it’s also made to connect with people.”

St. Lucia kicks off their headline tour across North America this weekend with two sold-out shows at New York City’s brand new 3200-capacity Pier 17. The extensive run also includes stops in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Boston, Chicago, and more. Now, The Night Game, Arkells, Airpark, and Honors will open select shows on the tour. Tickets are on sale now, see full routing below.

Hyperion is the follow-up to St. Lucia’s 2016 album Matter, which garnered praise from Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Nylon, and many more.

If you are a Montrealer, or even just worked in the entertainment business in that glorious city, then the name Sheldon Kagan is one you will instantly recognize.

For 50 years plus, Kagan was known as one of Montreal’s leading event producers and entrepreneurs. From starting out as a 16-year-old kid doing high school DJ gigs to creating a niche for jazz shows to come through the city, to booking the likes of local bands to legendary greats, producing thousands of productions and taking the chances it takes to book live entertainment.

The company has produced over 75 major concerts bringing in artists such as Dionne Warwick, The Commodores, Loggins & Messina, Delaney & Bonnie, Billy Preston, Donovan, Artie Shaw, Miles Davis, George Benson, Ravi Shankar, Dizzy Gillespie, Gene Krupa, Woody Herman, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Duke Ellington Orchestra, Dave Brubeck, Buddy Rich and many more. At this stage in his life, Sheldon Kagan had decided that the time has come for him to retire. But he also decided to write a book about his five-decade career, which is both charming and nostalgic, with great personal stories and insights into the artists he worked with in his bookings and shows.

Montreal electro-pop artist, Radiant Baby, announced his debut album, Restless, and shares the lead single, Do It, along with a stunning new music video. Both premiered today on The 405, which raves, "Felix Mongeon collaborated on the loving and heartfelt video for Do It with director Laurence Philomène, who Mongeon credits with creating the video's ‘purple queer love romance’ aesthetic. But the music? That earworm track that begs for repeat listens? That is all Mongeon. And the song's poignancy seems to extend from some universal feelings that Mongeon taps into with precision and ease." Restless is set for release on February 8, 2019, on Lisbon Lux Records. Listen to Do It on all streaming platforms now, and watch the video here.

“One amazing message: Empowering girls to become the best versions of themselves.”

The girls stuck to their Canadian roots with the video for“Stronger Than Yesterday” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UolYm0SnbH0). It was filmed in 6 different Ontario locations and the girls toldCeleb Secrets (http://celebsecrets.com/girl-pow-r-spreads-self-confidence-with-new-song...) exclusively; “Filming our music video was a very fun and amazing experience. We had multiple clothing changes, performed our choreography that we do when we are on tour, did a live performance where we played our instruments and sang, used this really cool white bridge that connects two parts of the city, and more!”

This summer the girls were thrilled to be able to shoot the music video for a soon-to-be-launched new song, “This is Us”, at the famous Loretto School on the Niagara Escarpment above the great cataracts of Niagara Falls. In 1861, the Loretto Sisters transformed it into a convent and school for girls, and more recently in 1982, it became a retreat for youth and adults -- perfectly complementing Girl Pow-R’s focus on girls and social causes.

Girl Pow-R are constantly aiming to release high energy tracks that will become an anthem to all the teens around the world who are pushing to rise above difficult life challenges they may be facing.
