Many people know of Lisa though her amazing work supporting the music of others nationally and internationally. Lisa was also Hugh's Room’s first publicist from 2001-2008, and has worked on management/publicity for the much missed Taylor Mitchell, Mose Scarlett, the Andrew Collins Trio, April Verch, Kiran Ahluwalia, Anne Lindsay, Qristina & Quinn Bachand, Jon Brooks, Enoch Kent, Jaffa Road, Art Garfunkel, ArtsCan Circle, a fundraiser for the Mariposa Folk Fest and a host of other wonderful artists in our midst. Before working with musicians, she was communications coordinator at ARCH, a legal resource centre for persons with disabilities.

Lisa is dealing with a recent diagnosis of aggressive HER2-positive breast cancer. She has had to scale back on her work at a time when her expenses are much higher dealing with all this. Her supplements and medicine, plus transportation to and from all her treatments and scans have made navigating this difficult journey even harder.

Lisa has been undergoing chemotherapy at Princess Margaret Hospital and is also working hard to boost her strength with a complementary care practitioner. The good news is that the cancer does not appear to have metastasized outside the breast and so we are all extremely hopeful for her recovery. She is one of the strongest people I know and is trying to stay positive through this ordeal.

Grammy-nominated pop-soul vocalist Emily King’s current video for "Look At Me Now" today, directed by George Mays and filmed at Apogee Studios in Los Angeles, is out there getting attention.

It’s the teaser for upcoming album Scenery due February 1st via ATO Records. The album, produced by longtime musical cohort Jeremy Most and mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Adele, Amy Winehouse, David Bowie) was recorded in upstate New York, nestled in the Catskill Mountains, where Emily now makes her home after a lifetime of Lower East Side living.

Scenery follows the critically acclaimed album The Switch (2015) which included the hit "Distance" (more than 13 million streams). Following the album's release, King performed on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Conan, Prairie Home Companion, and toured with Alabama Shakes.

A proud New Yorker, she loved her home, her family, her friends, and her life there. But last year, when she finally resolved to challenge herself by moving out of her comfort zone, positive changes started taking shape immediately. In Upstate New York, the fresh air and fresh mentality gave her the proper space and perspective to create what would become the album of her career.

Christmas and Family Love

Christmas to me means time passes to quickly.

It has been a hard year for my family and especially my sister Gwendolyn, who is battling cancer.
I wanted her to experience my world by having my phone stage side at Cannafest 2018 so she could hear my introduction of and me singing with Brett Michael of Poison.

She loved it as I love her; it brought a smile to her whole body...

She has been in the battle with cancer for some 20 years in its various stages so every day is a gift.

We as a family have never really celebrated Christmas, but do we celebrate Christmas Ideals daily.

So in the Spirit of Christmas and my family, we ask that you do the same...every minute is important so remember time and love are privileges, use them well.

I love you Gwendolyn you are the smartest, strongest, best person I have ever known and I was pissed that you did not accept those scholarships to Princeton, Harvard or Yale!

The world is better with you in it!

So I say, spread love, the spirit, the respect of love around like rain, shower the people you love with love and show them the way that you feel.

Jaimie Vernon and Mr! Mouray Celebrate with Christmas Belles

Christmas Belles Mr Mouray.jpg

For those of you who know Jaimie Vernon, then you know his musical knowledge and passion is beyond measure.

So when he recently announced he was part of a new band it was no surprise to us all because after all, you can’t keep a good music man down. Mr! Mouray was loosely named after a classic song - now think Dean Martin ‘when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie – Mr! Mouray!!

Now with the holiday season upon us Jaimie and musical partners have released a new single ‘Christmas Belles’ and it is truly a great production.

The most striking part of this song is it was written by Jaimie Vernon, and for those of us who know him and musical history, he is a rocker through and through. That is why the song is surprisingly sweet and sentimental with a nostalgic feel, combining great vocals with strong harmonies, the production builds into a great offering with a very positive lyric pattern. Kudos to these guys!

Give it a listen!
