Be Very Afraid. Scythia’s Now On TV

This is one bunch of Left Coasters who aren’t into letting the meat loaf. Vancouver folk metallers Scythia, just home and fresh off  their "Exiled Across Canada Tour" in support of their debut release "...Of War", have announced they will be premiering on Blank TV their 5 part Red Wizard mini-series that they filmed via an iPhone while on the road.

The miniseries follows the band while on tour stops across multiple Canadian cities and tells the story of Scythia's encounters with the evil Red Wizard.

"We came up with idea while we had a few days off on the tour and were visiting sites in various cities we performed in. Scott our keyboardist had his iPhone so it came in perfectly handy to do the videos. We hope the fans like it and have a good laugh." comments Scythia vocalist / guitarist Dave Khan.

True Patriot Love 2010 Tribute Dinner Raises Record $2.4 Million for Military Families

Story: Bill Delingat

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has told Parliament that Canada's combat mission will end next year as scheduled. However, his government finally confirmed that the country would keep up to 950 soldiers and support staff in Afghanistan on a training mission until March 2014(as reported in the Canadian Press).

"When Canada is asked by its allies and when Canada is asked by the Afghan people, 'Get us ready to defend ourselves,' I think Canada should respond as the government is responding."

But a new poll suggests Canadians are wary of any extension to the military mission in Afghanistan, which has claimed the lives of 152 members of the Forces. This is just another reason why events such as “True Patriot Love” are so important for those who are making our world a safer place.

The True Patriot Love Foundation was founded in 2009 by a group of citizens who want to make a positive contribution to the lives of Canadian military personnel and their families – to serve those who serve on behalf of our nation. The Foundation has grown through generous contributions from patriotic Canadians, corporations and other organizations.

David Marsden

David Marsden is one of Canada’s most influential broadcasters and an originator of free-form broadcasting.  An initial purveyor of Internet radio and one of a few Canadians to be recognized at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, not only once, but twice, he has the distinction of being the subject of a dedicated chapter in Marshall McLuhan’s book, Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man, a pioneering study in media theory.  With an incredible career spanning 50 years, Marsden’s unrivaled contributions to broadcasting will be honoured with the Alan Waters Broadcast Lifetime Achievement Award during his induction to the Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Canadian Radio Music Awards.

Considered one of Canada’s first true Rock’n’Roll deejays, David Marsden first made his mark in radio as the notoriously controversial motor-mouth jock Dave Mickie.  Through the 60s and 70s, he entertained a generation of fans through the CKEY and CHIQ airwaves, a national radio syndication and as host of two television shows: Canada’s first national teen pop TV show “Music Hop” on CBC and the weekly “Mickie A Go Go” which aired on CHCH TV for two and half years.  His uncharacteristic style and unmistakable voice have earned him the admiration of many a radio listener, some of whom have followed him as Mickie and as Marsden.
