Terry Gomes completed an Honours degree at the University of Ottawa, studying classical guitar and composition. He taught guitar for many years, played in several rock bands, and performed in a flute/classical guitar duo.
We caught up with Terry at home in Canada and he had this to say about his new release, “My new album, “SOME CHUNES”, features three brand new tracks and eight previously released favourites that have been remastered. The remastered pieces I chose were the ones that have had the most radio airplay, downloads, streams and press over the last 10 years.
Check out “A Recurring Thought on YouTube here:
“This is music to help combat the oppressive feelings of winter, take you somewhere warm, and lift your spirits. The title represents an offering of music and the word, “chunes” (tunes), references the tropically evocative nature of the pieces. Growing up, it was a term I heard often from my Dad when referring to enjoyable music.”
“Someday Castaway”
The new album “Some Chunes” features a wide variety of local Ottawa artists as each piece was recorded under different circumstances and with different players. The new tracks feature local Ottawa musicians Arien Villegas on congas and drums and JP Lapierre on bass. They were recorded and mixed by Ottawa Faces winner for Recording Engineer, Steve Foley.
