And so we now wind up the Year of 2022.

“Coming out of COVID” has certainly been a trying time and although restrictions were lifted, we all still had to adjust to a new way of working and living.

Especially in the live music sector, where the legendary artists were trying to honor bookings that were two years old, and the smaller artists were trying to get back to playing bars and venues, of which many closed, not being able to wait it out for things to return to ‘normal.'. In addition, I believe that creative folks are all 'sociable introverts' at heart, so trying to get back out there after almost to years of isolation has its own challenges.

For Cashbox Canada, as an online music magazine, our revenue stream is surely not built on ad support. With social media and so many other ways of promoting music, it seems like our magazine magically happens every week, and we do it out of the love for music.

But it truly is Team Cashbox that keeps it running. So my heartfelt thanks to my teammates:

Jain McMillan - who is our graphic guru and the one who creates those beautiful covers you see every week

Chris Wardman - Web and logistics wizard who keeps me on track every week (and keeps reminding me to upgrade to a new Mac :)

Peer Astedt – who contributes his weekly blog and is fearless with telling the true side of the business

Don Graham – my amazing talented brother/singer/songwriter who always comes up with the brilliant ideas of unique stories of legendary and new found artists

Michael Williams – legendary MuchMusic VJay who contributes when he finds the perfect stories

JoAnne Beharrell – our West Coast Canada influencer and supporter of indie artists

Fiona Lawson – our official photographer who you will always see with her trusted camera at live events

Nik Varlamov and Benjamin Gibson of Toronto Creatives - our newest addition who now bring the video/documentary side to our history and moving forward as well.

I am also grateful for the PR people, the artists, the musicians, and my road warrior colleagues who are truly my musical family.

Without all of the above mentioned, there would be no Cashbox Canada.

So let us all go into 2023 knowing that regardless we will always have music. Thank God and the artists for that and we will see you all back here on January 6, 2023.

Have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and a safe and peaceful Holliday Season.
