The 38th edition of the TD Halifax Jazz Festival (HJF) will take place throughout Halifax, Nova Scotia from Tuesday, July 9 to Sunday, July 14.
Since 1987, the TD Halifax Jazz Festival - originally JazzEast Rising - has been a non-profit organization promoting music and education. Organizing the oldest and largest summer festival in Atlantic Canada, the event also hosts diverse activities, including Jazz Labs and the Creative Music Workshop, contributing to Halifax’s vibrant cultural scene. With a commitment to diversity and cultural celebration, the festival showcases talented musicians, fosters community engagement, and provides unforgettable musical experiences for all.

Returning this year is the widely popular Late Night Jam at The Local (2037 Gottingen St) from Wednesday July 10 to Saturday July 13, beginning at 10:30 p.m. This event is FREE to attend, and will feature Pupo, Hynes and Moynihan, The Ally Fiola Quartet, James Shaw Quartet, and The 6 Star Revue. Musicians are encouraged to bring instruments to join in!
The renowned faculty of TD HJF's educational program, Creative Music Workshop returns for a nightly series of exploratory music, from Wednesday July 10 to Saturday July 13 at 7 p.m. at the Paul O'Regan Hall at the Halifax Central Library. The series will conclude on Sunday July 14, at 1 p.m., for the closing concert featuring the students of the eight-day Creative Music Workshop.
The festival’s Partnered Stages will be on offer at local bars and restaurants, with FREE nightly music at Obladee Wine Bar (1600 Barrington St.), Baton Rouge (1877 Hollis St.), and The Lion’s Head Tavern (3085 Robie St.) throughout the festival.
In addition to above, there will be FREE daily concerts from Wednesday, July 10 to Sunday, July 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the TD Main Stage on the Halifax Waterfront and FREE Jazz Labs, offering a behind-the-scenes look at making music that includes artist talks, master classes, and interactive concerts, which will take place at public libraries throughout HRM.
There will also be FREE concerts on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14, from 12 noon - 4 p.m., at Hydrostone Park and the African Nova Scotian Music Association will showcase performances once an hour, on the hour from 11a.m. until 2 p.m. at Ferry Terminal Park.
All FREE daytime programming is suitable for all ages.
