Cashbox Radio Launches New Top Ten Indie Chart

Fri Sep 01, 2023

We always say that music has no borders, and that is proven all the time with the submissions we get to Cashbox Canada, Record World International, and Cashbox Radio.

As Cashbox Magazine was originally one of the first music magazines to create a music chart back in the day, we have decided to launch a monthly Top Ten of the new Indie artists we feel deserve to be heard. As standard radio has become such a difficult place for artists to get added to rotation, at Cashbox Radio we love to play the legendary and the new indie artist releases.

In the ‘old days’ of radio, you could call a radio station and request a song so we have embraced that idea and made it so you can now do it virtually. If you want to support any of these artists with more airplay you can go to Cashbox Radio and hit the link cashboxradio.ca/request-a-song-on-cashbox-radio/

So here is our very first Spotify Chart curated by the Cashbox Team, starting with the September Top 10 Pick Hits, strictly in alphabetical order.

Cashbox Radio Birthday

For 16 years now I have had the pleasure of owning Cashbox Canada, which came at a time when I had already put in decades in the music industry and at the time, I was looking for a new challenge.

The one constant love I have always had was my career in radio. My home has antique radios I have collected over the years, and many of my best memories were when I was a young Music Director in Montreal, Quebec. Back then, a Music Director was given the privilege and the power to ’break’ a record. I relied on the promo guys who would bring product to the weekly music meeting every Wednesday without fail. When I realized that radio in its current stat was no longer experiencing what it was like to give a record a chance.

Cashbox Canada Top 50 Picks for 2021

Cashbox Canada Top 50 Picks for 2021

It was not an easy task to list the Top 50 songs that came into the Cashbox office in 2021, and I am sure we missed some of the ones that deserve to be on this list.

Our list is compiled by content; songs that were relevant and moving about our current times with the pandemic, racism, the sad discovery of unmarked graves of Residential School Indigenous children, love and hope and great songs both lyrically and musically.

It was also based on statistic numbers of requests on Cashbox Radio and social media posts about these songs and artists.

The Top 50 Pick Hits is not a chart and the positions are based on alphabetical listings.

Please visit online at https://www.cashboxradio.ca/request-a-song-on-cashbox-radio/ to request your favourite songs.

Tune in Friday January 7 @ 9PM EST to hear all these artists on a special feature show.

Cashbox Radio Turns Two Years Old – Radio the Way It Used to Be!

Fri Mar 19, 2021

A little over two years ago, I decided that we would expand our Cashbox brand and start a radio station.

Most of my colleagues thought it was a crazy idea and there was no money in it. But we were not doing this for the money – we were doing it for the music. My background is radio- being one of the first female Music Directors in Canada in the late ‘70s and my love for radio never went away. So we did a soft launch in June 2019 at MIDEM in Cannes, France and there was no turning back.
