Juno Nominated Singer Songwriter Lisa Hartt Releases New Single “Quiet Spaces” from Upcoming EP Hiraeth

Fri Oct 17, 2025

Juno-nominated, acclaimed singer-songwriter Lisa Hartt returns with “Quiet Spaces”, a soul-stirring new single from her forthcoming EP Hiraeth. Following the hauntingly beautiful “Nobody’s Wife”, this new song deepens the journey of love, loss, and spiritual connection that Hart began after the death of her beloved husband Michael in 2022.

"The lyric for "Nobody's Wife" came to me fully formed out of a dream in those early nightmarish days when I still awoke at 2 am, thinking I heard Michael coughing or moving about, and then realizing in a moment of clarity that he is gone."

Don Graham and Lisa Hartt

Who says you can’t go home? Veteran troubadours Lisa Hartt and Don Graham will return to the city where it all started. On Saturday, September 13th the two native Montrealers, are set to share the bill at Montreal’s premier listening room, Cafe Mariposa in NDG.

They both started off at the same time and played and hung out at a lot of the same coffee houses, and small clubs like Café Andre. Later, they both had careers as recording artists, Lisa with The Lisa Hartt Band, “Old Time Movie” and Don with Graham County, “Colorado”, performing with bands. They both toured extensively, soaking up experiences that would serve them well in developing songwriting craft down the line. As the years went by they both developed into singer/ songwriters and solo performers.

In recent years they’ve done numerous shows together in Toronto, Oakville, and other spots in Ontario and most recently in Sweden over the last couple of years at the Lilla By Festivalen in Rinkaby. This will be the first time performing in Montreal together, so it’s a real homecoming and full circle moment.

The Canadians Are Coming

Fri Jul 21 2023
Barry Stagg

Look out Rinkaby, Sweden, the Canadians are coming! They say good things come in threes and this summer three seasoned Canadian recording artists are setting sail for Sweden to prove that axiom true.

Canadian-born Lisa Hartt, Barry Stagg and Don Graham are packing their stories, songs and six strings and heading across the sea to hit the stages at the Lilla By Festival in Rinkaby on the Baltic Sea. This is the 3rd year of this festival, founded and produced by Jonas Tancred and Malin Östh, both performers in the successful Swedish duo Bara Jonson and Free.

Don Graham performed at last year’s 3rd Annual Lilly By Festivalen and it will be the first time for Hartt and Stagg to experience the magic of the “little festival” by the bay. This is Don’s second year playing at the event and he is thrilled to be joined stages this year with both Lisa and Barry who has known for most of his early musical career days in Canada.

During the 1960s and 1970s, Lisa toured extensively with various established musicians before returning to Canada, where she founded The Lisa Hartt Band. Throughout the 80s and 90s, Lisa explored multiple genres of music before eventually combining her vocal talents with world instruments and the ancient practice of reiki. As a result, she became a reiki master and developed her music into a holistic and transformative experience.

What the World Needs Now is Love

Fri Feb 03, 2023

What a truly strange and stressful few years we have all experienced! COVID, wars, tragedies, hurricanes, tornados, short of locusts we have experienced it all. (Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned locusts and invited that one in!)

But throughout it all we have had music. There is a song for every moment, every memory we have had in our lives. Artists carried on providing us with new songs to keep us going. Legendary artists are touring reminding us about the soundtrack of our lives.

So with music always there – what else do we need? Love. It always ends up as important as breathing and our hearts beating.

What better way to celebrate February the month of love with Cashbox Canada and Cashbox Radio than to create a Pick Hit list of what we love as our favourite songs.

We kick it off with an amazing rendition of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David-penned song, What the World Needs Now is Love. Released in 2018 this cover features

Burt Bacharach, Steve Tyrell, Martina McBride, Rod Stewart, James Taylor & Dionne Warwick and truly is remarkable.
