What a year we have had in the music world – we have lost so many of our legacy artists; new ones have arrived on the horizon to carry the torch. Cashbox Canada has kept the doors open and the stories flowing – all with the great devotion of our Cashbox staff and our wonderful supporters and artists who have made it all possible. We are looking forward to 2013 and to providing the best coverage of Canadian talent as well as industry stories that make up the music industry. Happy Hogmanay to you all and “Lang May Your Lum Reek !” - Sandy Graham

As we close off 2012 in true Canadian fashion with a blizzard.…I want to thank everyone who read my articles in Cashbox Canada.  A special thanks to those I interviewed for their time and contributions to the industry, to Jill Ash for last minute editing, and to Sandy Graham for always being there with kind words and a real good heart.  In 2013, as I continue to write about the music, I will interview more musicians, producers, songwriters and historic music industry figures. It’s all about the music – the people who play it, the people who make it, the people behind it. – Michael Williams

It’s a new world, a new age and a New Year and we are all pleased to be part of it. What lies ahead: new bridges to be built and crossed, new challenges to be overcome, better living and better health, we have new music to be composed, produced and enjoyed. One thing for certain, music is changing, mainly with the advancement of science and technology, we find ourselves at changing crossroads. Here at Cashbox we look forward to hearing what this future will bring. We cannot predict its outcome but one thing we know is that it will be interesting, challenge our senses, make us think and hopefully please are ears and warm are hearts. We encourage everyone with a tune in their “mind’s ear” to go further and change it up and create, on whatever or however you can from a broken old guitar to an iPhone and we will be proud to listen to it, report, review and post it to let the world know it is available and Canadian made. It all starts with in us all, the simple 4 - 4 beat of the heart. “Let the Music Begin”. All the best in 2013 ! – Bill Delingat

Another new year is here! This is a fresh start, a time to begin with renewed creativity. It’s a time to make resolutions, visualize goals, and move forward with success, growth, change and realize dreams. Commit to make 2013 the best year yet, a year that will bring you closer to achieving your goals. “Go as far as you can see, when you get there you can see farther”. Thomas Carlyle – Gillian FitzGibbon

If you’re reading this then the world didn’t end on December 21, 2012 as some believed would happen. So with that let me say loudly HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Let’s make 2013 the best year ever and prove that triskaidekaphobia is just a hard word to spell. As our Scottish Mum would say “A guid New Year to ane an' a' An' mony may ye see!” -  Don Graham

We all say the same thing every December, that we can't believe the holidays are here again. We only say that because it's true. Times flies and life happens as it does...and oh, and how our lives do happen! You've been quite a year 2012, from mayhem to milestones, love and losses, you've made your mark and said your piece, so thank you for allowing us to experience all of what we did and we'll see you later. We're moving on now. Welcome 2013 ! Your newness and wholeness are inspiring. We thank you for coming along and for giving us the opportunity to live these new days with positivity. Come what may, we'll strive to love who and what we have and remember with that same love who and what are no longer. We're excited that we get to travel with you, for another trip around the sun, so thank you 2013. Welcome and Happy New Year! - Tracey Savein

As much as I enjoy Oldies Music, in the New Year I resolve to listen (actually listen) to more current artists, groups, and songs.  For amongst the many tunes recorded each year there will be some (well, a few anyway) future oldies that will still be being played twenty some years from now.  And, among the artists and composers, perhaps a Pop Mozart will emerge – and I wouldn’t want to miss that. Happy New Year and all the best in 2013 !  - Lee Vyborny
