Finding greatness in Canadian entertainment isn’t hard. There are so many talented Canadians making their unique mark on the entertainment industry every day. However big or small that mark may be, it’s no doubt that Canada is a global leader in producing world-class music, arts, and entertainment. Nestled inside Toronto’s Exhibition Grounds, The Beanfield Centre hosted the 2022 Canada’s Walk of Fame inductee ceremony this past weekend and the team at Cashbox was more than happy to attend the red carpet to bring you closer to the excitement.

The 2022 Canada’s Walk of Fame inductee ceremony honoured some incredible actors, singer-songwriters, and business leaders. This year's inductees included outstanding talents: Emmy Award-winning actor Tatiana Maslany, the legendary singer-songwriter Deborah Cox, former member of The House of Commons and Grey Cup winner (yes, you read that right) Lionel Conacher, Canadian music video and film director Director X, acclaimed CBC journalist Barbara Frum, Indigo Books and Music CEO Heather Reisman, legendary Canadian group The Tragically Hip and the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival all of which attended the event. Canada’s Walk of Fame also recognized this year's honourees Canadian supper group Arkells, who received the Allan Slaight Music Impact Honouree and Northland Power Founder James Temerty who received National Hero Honouree. In addition, inductees and honourees were joined and celebrated by their peers, including Canadian Walk of Fame alumni such as singer-songwriter Jully Black and author Margaret Atwood. Others in attendance included Grammy nominee R&B star Glenn Lewis, legendary producers and songwriters Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, six-time Olympic medalist André De Grasse, Olympic gold medalist Donovan Bailey and Canada’s Drag Race stars Tynomi Banks and Jada Shada.

The evening included a performance and surprise tribute to Deborah Cox by singer-songwriter Melanie Fiona which we’re sure Cox more than appreciated. When asked what she was looking forward to most out of the evening, Cox said, “Not singing! (jokingly) Now I can actually enjoy the night!”. This is the first in-person Canada’s Walk of Fame since the COVID-19 pandemic started. The Canada’s Walk of Fame CEO Jeffrey Latimer expressed his excitement for the evening, “All the people (are) just being together. I think the idea that we have so many people back together to celebrate together, friends of our inductees, friends of our honorees being together… I think people are going to cry tonight. (These) Really extraordinary stories we’ve put together… they are so beautiful to watch and so inspiring.”

The night was full of glitz, talent, glamour and laughter and included a red-carpet reception for attendees with fresh drinks and beautiful food. Some nights in Toronto just feel electric and sometimes you don’t even know why. The 2022 Canada’s Walk of Fame will air on CTV on December 17, 2022.
