In honour if Rock of Fame Induction

On September 28th, Rough Trade will be honoured at Canada’s Rock of Fame Induction, as part of a once in a lifetime celebration of the most influential rock legends from the 70’s and 80’s. 13 of Canada’s most coveted bands and artists will be honoured as part of Canada’s Walk of Fame 25th anniversary celebrations.

To mark this very special occasion, The Phoenix Concert Theatre welcomes Rough Trade in concert, on Friday, September 29th, presented by boom 97.3. The evening will feature Rough Trade as well as many special guests, including Hawksley Workman and Chilina Kennedy.

Rough Trade was formed in Toronto in 1974 by multi-instrumentalist Kevan Staples and vocalist Carole Pope. Known for their openly sexual songs and burlesque theatricality of their live performances, Rough Trade was one of the first mainstream musical acts to include explicitly gay and lesbian references. They were groundbreaking and trailblazing, empowering generations to express their sexuality and love regardless of their orientation.

Among their many accolades, Rough Trade have received 4 Juno Awards and were inducted into The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2020 for their hit single “High School Confidential”. Rough Trade add Canada’s Walk of Fame to this list of accolades on September 28th.

Pagliaro Sept 30A Rare Performance of Quebec Rock Icon Michel Pagliaro has also been announced as well for Saturday September 30th at The Phoenix Concert Theatre

Quebec rock icon Michel Pagliaro will be honoured at Canada’s Rock of Fame induction, a once in a lifetime celebration of the most influential rock legends from the 70’s and 80’s and to mark this very special occasion, The Phoenix Concert Theatre will welcome Pagliaro for a rare performance on Saturday, September 30th, presented by boom 97.3.

Pagliaro’s career spans five decades as a singer, songwriter and producer. He rose to fame in the 1970’s with his English and French albums, and bridged the gap between Anglophone and Francophone music in Canada. His classics include the French hits Fou de toi, Si tu voulais, Louise and J’entends frapper, the best selling single in Quebec History, and English favorites including Lovin You Ain’t Easy, Rainshowers, Some Sing Some Dance, and What The Hell I Got.

Among his many accolades, Pagliaro received the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award in 2008 and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010. He also became the first artist in Canada to have hit singles and a gold record in both English and French. “Pag” adds Canada’s Walk of Fame to this list of accolades on September 28th.
