Once a five-piece outfit known for radio-ready anthems, Mystery Romance now operates as a dynamic duo: founding members Mike Scullion and Rhys Green. Reuniting under a reimagined creative vision, the two have crafted a fresh sonic identity that merges lush synth-pop textures with silky R&B grooves—all culminating in their forthcoming album, Electric Love. “Thing for You” is the result of years of evolution—reshaped through experimentation with sequencing and virtual instruments, before additional artists were brought in to elevate the final version.
“This track has lived a few lives,” says Scullion. “It started as a simple demo, and then a dance song, but now has grown into something way deeper—emotionally and sonically.” Drawing inspiration from the immersive studio worlds of The Alan Parsons Project and the synth soul of artists such as Sade and Tame Impala, Electric Love is shaping up to be a genre-bending collection of heart, hooks, and high production values.
