Americana Folk-Roots Rocker Chris Ronald Shines with Fifth New Album, Light & Dark

Fri Jun 11, 2021

With poetic lyrics steeped in his British roots, Canadian artist Chris Ronald captures his signature blend of folk and rock reminiscent of 60s-era revivalists and 70s-era singer/songwriters in this, his fifth and latest album, Light & Dark.

Leaning towards a decidedly rootsy sound, Ronald’s powerful vocals and accomplished musicianship in guitar, harmonica, and ukulele serve up a delicious folk-Americana, roots-rock release that lands just where he and his long-time collaborator, award-winning producer and multi-instrumentalist John MacArthur Ellis, set their sonic sights a few years ago.

“After showcasing at Americanafest in Nashville in 2018 — and really soaking up the vibe of the Americana music scene down there — John and I knew which direction to take this next album,” Ronald recalls. “Where my most recent album, Fragments, was more on the folk-side of Americana, Light & Dark has more of a contemporary roots sound.”

Folk Pop Artist Kele Fleming Creates Natural Buzz with New Single “Vanishing of Bees”

Fri Jun 11, 2021

At the crossroads of a child’s wonder at discovery and an adult’s grief over what’s been lost stands Canadian singer/songwriter Kele Fleming’s song-of-the-times, “Vanishing of Bees”.

Fleming re-released “Vanishing of Bees” accompanied by a new live video featuring her full band to continue the efforts of the UN World Bee Day. Additionally, 100% of digital sales of the single via Bandcamp will be donated to the David Suzuki Foundation.

With the double whammy of a worsening climate emergency damaging our planet and a worldwide pandemic ravaging our population, there’s no time like the present for this clarion call-to-action that Fleming also describes as “a beautiful lullaby for a time passing and a way of life that is threatened”.

In what the Vancouver Sun’s Stuart Derdeyn calls “a lush pop ballad boasting a soaring vocal on the chorus”, “Vanishing of Bees” powerfully juxtaposes a nostalgic, youthful world view with the harsh reality of today’s global environmental crisis.

Joseph Brooks Organ Promises to “Make Sure You Know” on New Single

Fri Jun 11, 2021

Remember when James Taylor hummed that we’ve “got a friend”? And all we’d have to do is call out, and a friend would be delivered? Welcome Joseph Brooks Organs — a singer/songwriter, troubadour, and softly sweeping lyrical mastermind who could readily be James Taylor making-good on that 70’s promise.

Originally hailing from London, Ontario, but calling Toronto home for nearly the past two decades, this multi-instrumentalist’s charming indie-acoustic vibe is a quaint canvass of love and all its wonderment on his latest offering, Lovelorn.

The sophomore album is a follow-up to Organs’ debut EP Tape from 2013. As he recalls, “[This album was] recorded by nine different musicians all in their own apartments due to self-isolation protocol,” adding, “Lovelorn is a product of the pandemic, and a testament to the will to go on creating whatever the impediments to that process may be.”

Laszlo Jones Announces the Release of His Latest Crossover Single Titled “In The Morning”

Fri Jun 04, 2021

Beirut-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and producer Gilles Jan Petersen, better known under his stage name Laszlo Jones, announces his latest single and music video, “In The Morning,” a track off his upcoming collection of work, the EP Beyond The Door. Delivering a unique sound reflecting his multiple talents and vivid creativity, Jones continues his musical journey in style with this record mixed by Kane Churko (In this moment, 5 Fingers Death Punch, Ozzy Osbourne, Papa Roach, Skillet, Disturbed) at the “Hideout” studio in Las Vegas, and featuring drummer Ralph Sammins, bassist Michael Buyens, arranger Marcos Barilari, and pianist Michael Arrom.

“In The Morning” sees Laszlo Jones express the contrast between the atrocities of a night of modern warfare (bombing and killing) and the calm and gentleness of a morning with rising sun and light breeze. For the music video, the concept was transposed into a night of ultra-violence between a man and a woman, leading to the murder of the man. In the morning the woman wakes up and goes about her day, dancing it away.
